Founded in 1984, Advanced Protection Technologies, Inc. (APT) is a privately held, debt-free corporation headquartered in Clearwater, FL. Surge suppression is our only business. We manufacture a complete line of products for Medium Voltage, Low Voltage and Data Communications applications. In 1999, Power Quality Assurance magazine ranked APT as the number one supplier of three phase Surge Protection Devices (SPDs), and ranked APT as a Top 50 Power Quality company.

APT’s historical market has been new construction bid market SPD sales. APT engages in long-term relationships and focuses on specialized market segments. Capitalizing on APT’s experience and manufacturing capability, combined with marketing partner’s segment strengths, creates win-win situations and customer solutions. Key relationships include, or have included Square D Company, Schneider Electric Canada, Siemens Energy & Automation, American Power Conversion (APC), Ontario Hydro (Canada), PhaseFree, Johnson Controls, Power Systems and Controls and Wood Group. APT has been awarded three consecutive ‘Market Engineering Customer Focus’ awards from Frost & Sullivan (1999, 2001, 2003) recognizing our customer support expertise.

APT operates a 31,000 square foot, facility in Clearwater, FL, USA. Sales, administration, engineering, lab & testing, office, manufacturing, warehousing, shipping, human resource and information technology are combined at this facility. All SPD units are engineered, manufactured, quality checked and shipped from this facility.

As a debt-free and non-public company, APT is able to focus on providing high quality service to our customers. We ship our products on time and house 4-6 months of stock so that we can handle rush orders. In today’s just-in-time environment, we believe this is a major benefit for our customers.

APT operates an on-site test lab and participates in Underwriters Laboratories’ Client Test Data Program. A second on-site test lab is used for extreme duty testing, failure analysis and continuous product improvement.

APT employs an ISO 9001:2000 Certified Quality Management System. We make substantial investments in Information Technologies to optimize our manufacturing and quality processes, and to more efficiently support our customers. APT is also an active member of all TVSS related Standards committees, including IEEE, NEMA, UL and others.
